Our History
Medicine in Lebanon is primarily practiced at the Good Samaritan Hospital by family physicians.
Dr. Carl Sherk elevates healthcare in Lebanon by offering consultations across internal medicine specialties. In 1961, Dr. William E. Schaffer, Jr. joins, forming Lebanon County’s first medical group. In 1966, Dr. Murray B. Grosky briefly joins, and as the practice expands to include cardiology, gastroenterology, and endocrinology, they officially adopt the name Lebanon Internal Medicine Associates (LIMA).
Sherk, Schaeffer & Hallahan incorporates, becoming Internal Medicine Specialists of Lebanon (IMS) and includes rheumatology in their expanding specialty practice.
Physician groups from LIMA merge with IMS, establishing a joint practice at 618 Cornwall Road under the unified name LIMA. The practice continues to grow, adding nephrology, physical therapy, and a complete lab to meet community needs.
In April 2000, LIMA relocates to 755 Norman Drive, enhancing their services with radiology and reinforcing their commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare to the community.
